And Know the Place

1993

Artist's Book. Collection of the Artist.

After visiting the Sun and Moon pyramids in Mexico in 1992. I was reminded of T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets.
'We shall not cease from exploration and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time'.

I embossed the words into the patinaed and distressed copper pages. The stepped Rimu cover is hand cut, shaped with an angle grinder and surface finished with a chainsaw, then drilled, burnt and stained. The pages were connected using deconstructed rope to make hinges.
